Do I need to learn HTML to manage a web site?

This is one of the most common questions that I get asked by new clients. It's not always phrased this way, it could be 'I don't really understand computers, will I still be able to manage my web site?' or 'I'm not very technical, but I would like to update my own web site.'

The answer isn't as cut and dried as you may think...

If you really want to distil it down to a one word answer, it has to be 'No'. However, if you take that view when looking to manage your content management system based web site, you're making life hard for yourself. (more...)

This is the first in a series of short articles that I'll call 'A quick Heads-Up'. Think of them as a series of executive summaries to act as an aide-mémoire for areas that need to be covered when building or managing your company's website.

It doesn't matter whether you spend £500 or £50 000 on your website. If nobody visits, your money is wasted. I've used this statement on many occasions to explain the value of  ongoing marketing activities for clients' web sites. It sums up the importance of online marketing to the success of a site.
